Blue and White Fall Table Vignette
October is birthday month at our house. Half of our family have birthdays in this wonderful month of autumn. And while birthdays mean parties and people and big celebrations to some, there are others who rather a much more subdued and intimate get together. There are people who love spending half the day alone, and decorating their own birthday table, and just getting so overjoyed and energized from creating a beautiful tablescape. If you hadn’t figured out, I fall into the latter category. I had an introvert’s dream of a birthday. I was in my pajamas til almost noon, and I decorated my own table, and I never had to leave the house, and the most precious people in my life blessed me with their presence.
With my birthday falling in the midst of October, I have this insatiable love for all things pumpkin, both food and décor. Over the years I have come to love the white Cinderella pumpkins. While I love the warmth of fall and orange, I am drawn to the pure and refreshing color of white. And so I love white pumpkins. It is also no secret that I love blue. I have been collecting my blue and white Spode dishes since way before I was married, and so I wanted to do a fall vignette tying in blue and white. Not traditional, and yet, so very me.
I bought some fresh greens for some pops of life and color, and then I remembered seeing blueberries at Target on clearance. So I drug all four boys after school clear across town, in search of the elusive blueberries that would just make my table pop. Yes, I am pitiful, but I had a vision and wanted a pretty table. And to my pleasure, there was still one long branch of blueberries saved for me in some obscure aisle at Target.
The wooden box in the center is actually what usually houses our remotes, and the linen table runner and napkins are all keepsakes from family.
I loved my birthday table. Creating brings me so much joy, it is actually a fun birthday activity, really.
Have a great day, everyone. Thanks for stopping by!
