The Sound of Wisdom’s Voice
Moments in time stand still when a beholder recognizes words untold in a work of art. All of us have been met with the acquaintance where a painting unveils an emotion hidden in our soul, words on a page unmask thoughts raw and vulnerable, music draws out chords capable of producing tears, beauty makes our heart feel like a thoroughbred racing from its gate.
I look out the window and watch the Painter, with arrays of light and brilliant pinks and oranges, yellows and red, brush strokes of life into a new day. “Day unto day He pours forth speech,” the psalmist writes, “night unto night he reveals knowledge. There is no language where His voice is not heard.”
The Creator, He never stops creating. Scientists, in their search of knowledge and wisdom continue to watch universes unfold.
Proverbs introduces humanity to the accompanist of creation; wisdom’s voice calls out. “The Lord brought me forth as the first of his work…I was appointed from eternity,…before the world began…I was there when he set the heavens in place.” (Prov. 8:22,23,27)
He wraps creation as a gift, wisdom unfolded as we listen and gaze.
Without, wisdom, there would be nothing, for everything was created in wisdom. God brought forth beauty and substance through the counsel and sound judgment of wisdom. Like a carpenter, and artist or a seamstress reflecting on their work, wisdom stands back and remarks, “Then I was the craftsman at his side, I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.” (Prov. 8:30-31)
Wisdom is what sets creativity apart from the copycat. A photocopy requires knowledge of how to press a button on a machine, a painting through wisdom, understands the depths, shadows, dimensions, and a world not limited to primary colors. A musician, through knowledge and understanding of math, can read and mimic an array of notes on a page, but it takes wisdom to bring life to the sound. Knowledge can follow directions, wisdom creates new pathways.
Wisdom induces creativity.
Creativity articulates the language of the heart and interprets the wrestle inside for ones who cannot explain.
Maybe it’s no wonder that people are driven towards the creative, towards innovation, towards new beauty to behold. That’s what true creation is, after all, it’s all good. Every time the Creator completed a new day, a finishing seal was added, to prove its worth,
“and it was good.”
